Sometimes it seems that it is not easy to be smart in prison where we are trying to save the unfortunate humans who are there for long - completed their trial but just delayed due to some documentation issues or lack of money to purchase their ticket. Indeed the help and co nsideration from the Dubai Governmental authorities is an inspiration to move ahead though the adversities associated with those cases are too complicated.
One such case is the story of Bhavani & Elangovan. One day Elangovan called us from the jail who has got the telephone number from some other inmates (We do get lots of ‘help line’ calls from the jail regularly). He has been there in jail for 6 months due to the issues related to a business dealings. All his issues had been solved and everything was alright to go back to India and he had been taken to the air port by jail authorities for deportation. 3 times he had reported to the airport. Each time his departure was postponed and taken again in to jail. The reason was simple. His wife Bhavani and their 5 children - under his sponsorship - are still here in Dubai and their documents have not been cleared-off by the Indian Consulate authorities.
Bhavani out of her unfathomable anguish was on the verge of suicide along with her 5 children at the time of our meeting. She explained her miseries. She was weeping over that the Indian Consulate officers were mercilessly ignoring her for no re asons by not giving proper guidance / documents. For more than 3 months she was roaming around the Consulate with her children from morning to evening. Every day she used to start from early morning by bus to Consulate and was reaching home at late night - each consecutive nights concluding to a state of hopelessness… She showed us her unhygienic dwelling place where she is living with her 5 small children. 6 months ago this family was living in a posh-villa in Jumeriah. Now living even without food for her children…..
During our regular visit to jails we used meet Elangovan in prison and given counseling / moral support. Also given telephone cards to call to his beloved wife/family. Instilled hope of release….and worked accordingly to release this family from the misery by getting necessary documents.
When we realised that the matter will be worsened or delayed further by the concerned officers who are handling the case in the consulate, we have approache d to the Honorable Consulate General & Vice Consular stating this suffocating background. Upon this they personally looked into this issue. The result was simple and great……..at any time this family will reach their home.
However, we do hereby take the opportunity to pay our gratitude to the Honorable officers Sri. Venu Rajamony [Consular General] & Sri Ajith Kumar [Vice Consular] in the Dubai Indian Consulate for solving this for ever….. Our special thanks to Shri Ajitha Kumar, who has granted AED 7000 to settle this family’s house rent and the water/electricity bill accrued so far plus Air ticket for the entire family.
Finally, one word more: as the Present Moment requires more attention on the people in jail and hospitals we are working for that most of our times by the grace of Guruji…… |
